I didn’t always like it. At first I was a skeptic. Now, I’m a big, big fan.
I’m talking about Pinterest.
If you agree with me that the essence of social media is about connecting, sharing, relating and networking – listen up. I’m into social media. I’m an avid Facebook user (we’re talking every hour of everyday – it’s how I get a paycheck), I find Twitter useful and fast, LinkedIn is overlooked but an important tool, Google+ caught and then lost my attention and I have yet to explore the wonders of FourSquare, Flickr, StumbleUpon and Evernote.
Pinterest is different. It’s a visual pin board. It’s is not about promoting, it’s about sharing…
It’s not about how many friends you have, what your influence score is or who you know and who shares your messages. It’s all about content.
The more you share the better. Pinterest is simple. It leaves egos at the door and helps spread the word, promote art, ideas, concepts. It’s eye candy and inspiration. It can be a distraction. It’s silly but can be meaningful. It can be a distraction. Wait – didn’t I already mention that?
Pinterest is the essence of real social media. I’ve used it for work concepts, styling tips, delicious recipes, home décor dreams, useful housekeeping remedies and great, inspirational quotes, messages and sayings.
All social media is a distraction. Don’t let this detour you. Get out there and enjoy this internet pleasure. Check out some other folks’ take on Pinterest as a social media platform.

Even better? How about Pinterest “pins” about Pinterest. Yep. Awesome.

YES! I can’t believe how much I love it. It’s like having a never ending magazine at your fingertips and never having to tear out the pages or fold down the corners, only to lose it anyway!
K8! Great to hear from you. It is so fun and I agree with your description. How are you doing? How is being back in Corvallis? Most importantly how is your little pup?
Let me know if you are coming to Seattle anytime! m.k.
